Battery problem update
WiFi must work when the car is switched off otherwise the phone app wouldn't be able to connect and get information or remotely do things, surely.

I will look into it.
With OTA updates on my previous car it only happened while the engine was running.
I would be interested in hearing if other people can receive Wi-Fi updates while their car is parked up for the night?

The app is not using Wi-Fi to communicate with the car because it can be done anywhere in the UK.
WI-Fi is for short distance communication only.
It must be using some kind of mobile network.

Yep, I was using WiFi to cover all the comms when I shouldn't have. However, it still needs to be powered on (?). I don't suppose it uses anything near enough power though to affect a battery.

Say for instance I was in Glasgow and my car was parked in London, I could communicate with it via the app but it would not be using Wi-Fi.Sparks wrote: βTue Jan 16, 2024 2:53 pmYep, I was using WiFi to cover all the comms when I shouldn't have. I know that, obviously I didn't make it clear. But, there needs to be power for the car to transmit and receive via the LTE system.Ron240 wrote: βTue Jan 16, 2024 3:01 pmSay for instance I was in Glasgow and my car was parked in London, I could communicate with it via the app but it would not be using Wi-Fi.

Found this on the Canadian Ford site.
The way itβs worded suggests Wi-Fi updates might take days depending on the connection. No mention of needing the engine running.

The issue that many of us have is that we can connect to the Ford servers using the cars Wi-Fi but the server reports that the software is up to date, even though the new software is available for download on your computer. There is no point in going to the dealer because there is nothing wrong with the car..... its Ford's servers.
