Petrol is currently at £1.09 in the supermarkets and up to 12p more elsewhere. Pays to shop around.

AHH those were the days. Before wars and Covid.....Not quite as good as 79p a litre in 2003 though!

I can remember 4 shillings and 6 pence a gallon (approximately 5p a litre in today's money) in late 1960s.

Leaded petrol, as it was called in the early sixties, was around 4 shillings a gallon. The price stayed stable for years. No litres back then.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.... ;) :D
52.95p per litre is taken by the Government in Tax. Once they get tired of freezing the level of take the price will rocket again.
Between them and the oil companies they have you over a barrel (No pun intended).

On occasion I travel North to South and return later South to North.
Filling up can easily cost at current rates over £10 more when travelling home. Same distance.
Difference at the pumps between the North West and South (inside the M25) can be as much as 20p ltr.
(and before you ask I would never dream of filling up at the rip off Motorway Service Stations)
