OK, looks like it's time to be seriously looking for my next car. Ford contacted me yesterday with the usual, 'You've been selected for a special Ford up front payment on your next car' , or similar...
Told them to look at deals and get back to me. I don't like the facelift Puma, the more I look at it the more I'm put off.
I need to rid myself of thinking about the power and drive of the Puma as it's making my choice difficult because not a lot match up to it.
I'm tempted by the Yaris cross for the reliability and 10 year warranty, plus I'm not offended by the looks.
Alternative suggestions welcome.
Another problem (1st world) I have is that I still have a £250 Ford voucher to use.....As the car is going soon, nothing to use it on... :(
I suppose if I go for a new Puma (Oh dear! I can't believe I said that :o ) I could get a dashcam fitted...... :D

Nissan Juke would be an option for me. Option for heated front screen as well.

New Mokka looks nice but it has a puny 1.2 Puretech engine. Not just Ford who are spoiling cars by engine selection.

Toyota CH-R if you can afford the fast one. Not worth it in my opinion.

Had a run in the new Mokka....Not a nice drive IMO, but I think my Brother in law is on the verge of getting one.
Hoping to drop into Nissan next week could try the Juke and the Qashqai..

Like you Sparks I am also looking at new cars but cannot decide which I prefer. Top of the list is lexus lbx which has the comfort I am looking for but is let down a little by engine power. I also like the Nissan Qashqai e power and Volvo xc40 which again have the extras required but both are getting close to £40k which is a no no. I like the look of the new Vauxhall frontera but not sure about engine power. My wife wants a mini countryman but I'm not sure about the size an dashboard layout. I am in no real hurry and will have to pay for my Puma's 4 year service in a few weeks time but don't expect to have it for 5th year inspection

Pay the balance and keep the Puma.

I'm in a similar position, but genuinely disinterested in basically everything on the market ATM.

I'd have a Mach-e if they cost half what they do; new puma is a downgrade; Focus with a proper engine is 40K+, VW group has gone down the shitter; BMW and Merc are both making hideous cars atm; Same with Honda and Nissan; I wont buy a Chinese car, because I refuse to contribute to their destruction of the western automotive industry, and the Ioniq series is too big. Other Korean cars are less pleasant places to be than I've got at present.

The stellantis group cars have all got the same "?" Above their heads with regards to reliability - they've cut to the bone.

It's just a depressing world ATM.

VW Golf R -line? good discounts to be had on drivethedeal, the dashboard has now been put to rights with a new larger infotainment screen as for the 2024 Puma dashboard I think it's 10 time's better than the Fiesta/Pumas Dashboard as its infotainment screen is really beginning to look dated, but looking at your signature! Your on you're 2nd Puma, so for that reason alone I wouldn't do another Ford
I managed to get a £7k of a discount on a Mk8.5 Golf R black Ed through drivethedeal
On order Puma ST with pano roof and handling pack

Never really liked any of the VW's , with nothing jumping out I've even been considering looking after the wallet and just getting a Dacia Duster....

Yes, a bit depressing, I don't want to keep the Puma as having one once the warranty goes is looking a bit of a gamble. They haven't fixed any of the niggles with the facelift, so have ignored customers.
Prices for most of the cars out there are ridiculous and with the amount of city traffic there is these days I'm begrudging paying what some of them want.
Got a couple of days off next week to go around the dealers, We have most of them on the same industrial park near me so should only take a couple of days. I won't take a test drive unless I like the cockpit so that'll save some time.

I test drove the Juke and LBX before getting another Puma. The Juke was just mediocre. Loved the LBX interior but that engine was shockingly under powered.
I paid for the extended Ford warranty on the old Puma for two years. It was crazy cheap and I had the CAT replaced last year, which was pain free.

I think your exaggerating the handling and drive, others are just as good if not better. Most VAG cars are more than a match. Its a raised rocky suv snd not a match for proper hatchbacks no matter what clueless journalist say. And the Puma is near the bottom when it comes to built quality and materials used these days. If they did a proper ST still, I certainly wouldn’t buy another now, would have considered another pre facelift but not the facelift, the steering wheel and dash etc writes it off.

The Focus is a much better car than the Puma, build quality is a level up and so is refinement and the handling and drive certainly is.

How about getting an extended warranty which would buy you more time with the Puma, and time to hunt for a future replacement too.

I do hope you stay with the Puma and on this forum a bit longer, Sparks - have always enjoyed your posts
