Hello to all - i am new on here and many thanks-
But 'Old' for everything else!
I have a Ford Puma 2020 -26000 miles.
I experienced 'No key detected' a few nights ago and the car would not start. - (new key battery 2 months ago & no warnings)
After several attempts and a 10 minute rest it started and has been OK for 4/5 days but it happended again yesterday.
Appreciate any suggestions please.

'No key detected' problem
many thanks Matthen for replying;
I have found as you directed and the car started.
When this happened over the past few days, I had managed to start the car by holding the key to the starter button- Is your suggestion a more secure option?
Are you able to say what the cause is and if it's big job to retify? i.e. Back to the dealer?
Many thanks

Hi welcome to the forum.
Did you not get two keys with your car? If so do both act the same way?

The second key (wife's key) was also in the car, on back seat, when it reported 'No key detected' two days ago - It then started when I put my key to the ignition button enabling the car to start.
Is there any difference in using the console 'socket' and the starter button?
Appreciate any info as cause and remedy - I'm told it might need a new 'exterior airiel'?
Cheers

Hi,
not sure what difference the 'socket' start makes to be honest, I've never had to use it.
Does your wife have the same problem when she tries with her key and yours is not anywhere near?
The symptoms are in line with a depleted key fob battery, so even though you changed it a couple of months ago it might be worth changing it again.
Any more detail on this 'exterior aerial'?
Sorry I can't be more helpful...

The socket should be used. I'd say the start button is a coincidence : the coil to read the key passively is in the slot mentioned, not the button.
You say both keys were in the car. Did you try removing one?
I'd take it back to the dealer: doesn't make any difference where in the car my key is (in the boot, under the seat, in a pocket - the car starts).
Something's clearly wrong.

How did you get it sorted? It's happened to me ones or twice. I locked it and opened it on the remote, and it worked
