Will solder and heatshrink longer wires to it and then bolt it all back up ready to wire in.

I have to say, I'm full of admiration for anyone that can be arsed to go to so much effort to fix a comparatively minor omission in there car...(not sarcasm)

Hah. I can't explain why that narked me as much as it did. It's not the most extreme of mods though and not that much work

I think it's more the irritation that they've clearly gone to such absurd lengths to delete something that really should be standard. I'll route the cable nicely, tape it into the main loom so it won't rattle and it will look ( should Ford go poking) absolutely standard. I've also resisted the temptation to slot a silly bright LED panel in there. Gone for an LED but in the shape of the filament lamp so it gives out the same light direction. It will stand me about £18 of parts and a couple of hours of my time.

I'm also going to line the glovebox with acoustic carpet as that will stop anything in there from rattling - that sort of stuff drives me insane on longer drives.

It just means it won't annoy me that I can't see the contents of the glovebox the 5 times a year I'll look in it

Yes well done, and the way it should be.

It is ridiculous that a relatively small number of cars do not have the light...with no explanation why.
It's not even that it's been deleted because brand new cars have it the same as older ones.
It just seems so random, and we will probably never find out the real reason.

The 6000k colour temperature will be a big improvement over the dull yellow of the standard halogen bulb.
I am surprised at Ford still fitting these outdated bulbs for interior lighting
