Our 72plate st line has done 2005 miles & showing oil at 55%,,it’s just over 12 month old so I’d say that’s about right,,when it’s nearer 24 months old it will be around 10% & due.

I've looked at this a few times and I'm sure it goes by time (mostly). My first service was at around 5600 miles and the % was at about 3%. I'm now 4 months away from my second service and it's at 32%. I've done 9400 so it's going to be the same. I would bet that if I'd done 9000 a year, it wouldn't have been any different.

Our ST is not quite 6 months old and has 9150 miles on it.
Oil life is showing 29% with an estimated service date of Nov 23 and remaining mileage as 3600. So that should give me 12750 miles at service.
With knowledge gained from our previous Puma and also my Transit Connect (which has 61000 miles on it and is not quite 2 years old) I find it to be very accurate.

Sounds about right. My ST is 7 months old and showing just over 50% oil life. The ST has an annual service whereas any non ST Puma is I believe a 2 year service.

I;m fairly sure you can reset the oil life in the Sync setting menu somewhere though.
You can, cannot remember how, not sure if it is the handbook. I did mine after it’s service when Ford hadn’t reset it.

My Puma has now done 6916 miles and is showing an oil life of 65%.
So, do we now have to wait until it drops to about 10% before coming a service?

No you have your service carried out at the manufacturers stated interval. :)
The car will have inbuilt monitoring and should flag up a warning, but this shouldnt normally be inside the regular service schedule.

There is no direct oil sensor, but sensors in various parts of the drivetrain send information about the revs, temp and driving time to the main computer. This works out the predicted time when the oil will begin to degrade.
The calculations are done with plenty of leeway, so as long as you adhere to the service intervals there should be no reason to worry about it.

Well, we managed to get to exactly 12,800 miles and the oil life went to 0% . First service is tomorrow at 7 months old. Well done to my better half in squeezing another 300 miles out of our ST.
