Brings back happy memories, a real classic now the mk2 Escorts, I had a lime Green mk2 first car, loved it. Then got a P100 pickup then had accident at wrote it off, I was very lucky if it had been a smaller car would not be here. Then had a vibrant orange mk2 big tyres thought it was a beast, those were the days.

I had an old Mk1 escort. It was on it's last legs when I got it. There was a massive rust patch all over the centre of the bonnet, so, I decided to repaint it.
I thought Hammerite would be a good option to help with the rust problem, so got some in silver. 👍 The problem I had was that I'd decided to use a sponge roller to get some decent coverage, this started to slowly disintegrate/melt, which left little peaks all over the place. i carried on and repainted the whole car. It looked like I'd artexed the whole thing!!! :o
First trip up the A45 I was stopped twice by the police because, quote - they couldn't believe what they had seen - unquote. I'm glad it made their day, but, I was late into work which cost... :x I was stopped a few more times before eventually scrapping it...
Glad those desperate days are well behind me now........Nostalgia's not what it used to be.....

My first car was a MK1 escort. About 3 years old so not a banger. I rolled it after 2 weeks. All my own fault. Inexperienced, driving alone on provisional license so insurance invalid. Was in RAF uniform, half a mile from base so policeman who attended didn't ask for docs..very lucky in that respect but I had to pay off a hefty bank loan for 3 years with no car to show for it which was a painful lesson in life.

My first car was a F plate mk 2 fiesta pop plus - F587 LTS - when they did the old 957 cc four pot - don't even think it was OHC. It only had four forward gears, was, as they all were back then, full of rust!, and it rained in which ruined the back seat!...

Worth a bit now when stored in good nick - good old days when small cars were all three door only, no annoying back doors that your kids swing open and smack into things with because they can't wait to get out!...
ST line X - Desert Island Blue
Ordered 30/1/22 - Built 18/4/22 - Sat in Dagenham yard since May - Collected 17/6/22 - To be fair it's been a wonderful car, so far!
