Lights or lack of them

Drove home on country roads last night and feel lucky to get home! The lights on the Puma are dire. Previous car had LED and the difference is like night and day! Has anyone updated the standard bulbs (main and high beam) LEGALLY? I believe that the MOT rules havechanged a bit. I have used the search function but nothing came to light...

155 ST LINE X. Nornal lights - too tight to fork out 900 quid for full LED. Thought not needed as I don't drive much in the dark...
You are correct in that MOT tests have changed in relation to aftermarket LED bulbs.
I have the full LED’s so can’t comment on bulb brightness on the standard headlights.
There’s plenty of direct replacement bulbs that claim to be whiter and brighter. I tried them on previous cars and found them to be brighter up close but threw less of a beam (so pretty pointless). I also found they didn’t last as long and were less resilient in the cold.

That's surprising, the lights on mine are very good. You'll probably shoot me for asking this, but have you checked that the levelling switch is on the right setting?Curryhouse wrote: ↑Mon Jan 17, 2022 4:45 pm Drove home on country roads last night and feel lucky to get home! Must be me then . Like I said, had LED in a previous car and the difference is noticeable. Headlight settings are on 0. Should go and have a play with that one night.
Just thought. I don't need a MOT for 3 years. Had a VERY loud exhaust on a motorbike. Used to put the original one back on for MOT time. Now there's an idea - as long as its easy to swap the bulbs

Sure you don't need a trip to Specsavers?Curryhouse wrote: ↑Tue Jan 18, 2022 11:01 am Must be me then . Like I said, had LED in a previous car and the difference is noticeable. Headlight settings are on 0. Should go and have a play with that one night.
