On the face of it that seems amazing because buying GAP insurance from the same dealer that you buy your new car from is usually always more expensive than buying online (often significantly more)...in fact yours is the first example I have heard of where it was not.
Did you compare the details to make sure it was like for like with the ALA quote?
Is you wife liking her new Puma? :)

I got a quote from motor easy £168.61. ALA was more expensive.

I too thought this was money for old rope but a few years ago my brother in law had his 6 month old Jag XK written off. He was glad of the GAP insurance because it just took away the hassle of getting the insurance company to better their offer. I would only ever buy it for a new or very nearly new car

Just out of curiosity what level of GAP cover is that?
I already have GAP in place (3 year RTI) but ran through a quote with motor easy, who are currently offering an 11% discount.
Their RTI came out at £141.87 for 2 years or £197.90 for 3, which compares almost the same as the £199 I paid with Car2Cover.

Not sure tbh. I have never taken GAP before so just researching what I need. The consensus of people seems to be ALA. Some of these say they take you back to invoice value which seems to good to be true especially if the car is approaching 3 years old. I read the T & C's for GAP which says upon total loss, should my insurance company offer me an alternative car and I refuse, ALA refused a GAP claim. I can see an issue there

I am seeing my brother in law tomorrow who has needed GAP insurance before so will get the details from him who he uses etc.
