Car tax going up 6% across the board from 01 04 2024. If you own a car registered before 01 03 2001 the tax increases to £345 over 1549cc and £210 under. Ripping off the motorists again.

I have a 1990 Mini Cooper RSP, it's already ridiculous that it costs me £180 ISH to tax and only about £50 to insure!!! The government suck!!

At least it only has a few years till it is exempt.

Even that could change under the worst government of all time.

I looked into this for my own information because I didnt actually know.
You can apply to have your 1990 Mini registered in the historic vehicle class and be tax exempt on 1st April 2031, because it applies from the year after the car becomes 40 years old from first registration so you still have 7 years to wait.
The only exception is when it was first registered between 1 - 7 January where you can apply the same year that it turns 40.

I don't know your specific details but there is no Puma that is classed as alternative fuel which qualifies for the £10 discount.
Mild hybrids are not in this class...only self charging and plug in hybrids, or LPG.
The vehicle needs to be capable of running at least a short distance on fuel other than petrol or diesel, which a mild hybrid cannot.

I think it's based upon a number of factors such as CO2 emissions rather than all mild hybrids benefit unfortunately. I have the 125bhp so it qualifies. There is more information on the government website.

It is..in a secure air conditioned storage unit. So no tax at the moment.
