The simple answer is to use a wash mitt with a pH neutral shampoo, I use Bilt Hamber Auto Wash, then use a microfibre drying towel to dry it.
You can get quite deep into the subject of what is the best method of washing and products to use, but if you keep it simple and be careful and gentle then you shouldn't go far wrong.
I have never used the '2 bucket method' for example, but have been complimented on my washing results by 2 detailers.
Just use the method that works well for you. :)

NeilS was the main man on this forum for all things to do with car cleaning, polishing and waxing. Well worth looking up some of his old posts.
