Sync software update !!!
The answer to this question is almost certainly somewhere in the 95 pages of this thread, but I've not been able to find it: how do I find out the number of the latest update to SYNC, please, so I can check if I'm up to date? Is there an updates page on the Ford website somewhere?

If there is no update available for you then you will be on the latest Sync for your car. The latest “official” version on my car with F11 maps …
@Lightfoot An afterthought: the update I downloaded from the Ford site is SYNC3_3346076635_Update. Any idea how that relates to your Version 3.4?

The file name doesn't actually match (directly relate) either to Sync 3.4 or Map update versions. It never does.
Do you recall which it was you down loaded, Sync or Maps. A clue is how big is the file?
If I recall a file of around 8gb is a Sync update and a file of 24gb or bigger is a Map update.
The latest version of Sync is Gen 3-3.4 22110 and for Maps it is F11.
To update to Maps F11 you will need to install sync version 22110 first.
Either way once downloaded the file content needs to be extracted (unzipped).
To simply check what versions you currently have, ie physically go to your sync screen 'in car,' and select automatic updates and then find the option to check/view the software versions you already have. Make a note.
In theory (not always) when you go onto Ford's Software update site using your vehicles vin number it will already be aware of your vehicle current software versions and allow you to download the next version be it Sync or Maps in the correct sequence.
The file name download will be similar or even the same as per that you have just quoted, the file will not have a name that relates directly to sync or map versions.
So th eford sync site ACTUALLY shows me as upto date for first time in months. V 22251 with maps F11

When you say it shows you that. Is that as shown on your vehicles sync screen!
so I've used syn3 to update sync software and maps for a while. MUCH more stable way. Fords efforts at producing updates to load yourself via USB are horrendous as can be seen over the years documented in this forum. OTA updates appear VERY haphazard, works for some not others. So yes my screen in car shows those software and map versions and the sync update page shows I'm all upto date

Sync 3 is well past it's sell by date, which is why Ford are discontinuing it and moving to Android Automotive along with many other manufacturers.
I'm guessing that they are not going to put much effort into Sync 3 as the end gets nearer.

It's impossible to find ou what any of these updates relate to as there is never a changelog. So in the grand scheme of things how relevant to driving the car are any of these updates. If you didn't check you would never know.
