So i've bought a new dashcam and wired it just straight into the cigarette port however the system seems to stay on (timed for 20 minutes) I was wondering if anyone was aware as to when it would turn off if it does at all?

Thanks!

I would imagine the 12v socket knocks off when you switch off ignition. (I've not tested nor used this socket)

Does your dash cam set up have a little internal battery that runs the system for 20 minutes when you've stopped?

What model dash cam is it?

The dashcam turns off 10 seconds after losing power, i.e. if I take the wire out of the plug it will turn off 10 seconds later, doesn't seem to turn off when the car is locked and ignition off

It will continue to be live for up to 30mins after ignition turned off. I hardwired mine to avoid this.

Good to know. Same for USB sockets?

The manual says you can charge via the usb only when the engine is running. I haven’t tried this though.
