I’m not over fussed if it goes into sleep mode whilst I’m away. In fact that’s what it should do I think. Hopefully shutting everything down will preserve the battery.
Probably a stupid question, but how do you unlock the doors if the battery is dead ?
Getting my new Puma next month, and this whole battery situation is making me wonder if I have made a mistake.
Explained in the Doors & Locks section in the Puma Owners Manual.

Yes and I’m going to test it before we go away and maybe leave the cover off just in case. I’m sure it will be fine to leave the cover for five weeks?

There’s a key inside the fob and you access the door lock by removing the cover on the handle. The part looks a bit flimsy so be careful removing it. Look under the drivers door handle and you will see a little hole. That’s the part that needs to come off.

I have had my Mild Hybrid 1L 128 Puma since March 2021, in September it began to throw up the issues of closing down the system to preserve the power and the App telling me doors had been opened when they had been closed all day, the first visit to the local dealer could not find anything other than that the battery needed charging. A month later with the same issues the dealer kept the car overnight and found that the battery needed replacing which they did. The car seemed ok until April this year when it began again but less notifications than last year, went up to Scotland and had a Red warning message come up on the dashboard saying that the 12v system required a service! so took a photo of it to show the dealer. There were three other warning messages flashed up saying "Driver fatigue take a break" that was after 30 minutes of driving. The car has been with the dealer for two days now and they have now found that the Alternator for the Hybrid battery needs changing which is currently being done. Last year again while up in Scotland we noticed a burning smell inside the car and have had the same thing happen on four other occasions which it seems was down to the Alternator. A European recall for the Puma highlighted that the Earth lead for the batteries may not have been tightened to the right torque and if worked loose could cause a fire. Fingers crossed that the change of Alternator solves the issue.

I think the Earth lead was the subject of a recall so I’m guessing most cars involved have been checked.

I’ve had about three instances, since I got the Varta back in September last year, of sync saying it was shutting down to preserve the battery. Every time it’s been just as I’ve got into the car and before I’ve started it. Every time after a couple of days parked up - even after long drives. Unlike last year though, I’ve had no indication via the app at all.

I’ve now switched off the auto updates for sync in the hope that it might be that which is trickle draining the battery. It’s charging well at over 14.8-15v but obviously something is causing a drain. I wonder if the 60ma batteries are just not big enough? Has anyone looked into a 65 or larger?

I must be one of the lucky ones. My Wombat serves me well and I've not had to tinker with any settings whatsoever, only for my personal preference.

I take it you are connected via your Wi-Fi for auto updates?

Strange how some are fine and others not.

Same here. 2021.75 build, wombat battery and (fingers crossed) never a problem. I'm wifi connected to the car at home so I can't see that drain being a cause.
2021.75 Puma, STLineX Vignale, MHEV, 155bhp, 7spDCT, Fantastic Red.
Winter pack, Massage seats, B&O audio, Fixed LED headlights - all standard AFAIK. Accessories fitted: "AAWireless" Android Auto, rubber floor and megabox mats.

Day 4 of my car being at the dealers, odd being told that they need to change the Alternator when the car does not have one, I am guessing that they mean the motor that is connected to the engine and creates the power to the 48v Battery. Hopefully at some point today I will get it back. Car back now, the battery change last year was to a Varta, seems like they changed the motor that charges the battery this week. Hopefully no more issues.
