Hi, which coolant colour is your Puma filled with?
I'd like to get a refilling bottle ( spec as suggested by the manuals ), but I am having troubles deciding the proper matching colour, red, purple, pink, violet?
Has anyone talked to a Ford mechanic about that?
Thank you.

Give your local dealer a ring or maybe pop along to their Parts Department :D

The colour is not important. The specification is important. The correct Ford spec is WSS-M97B44-D. It could be orange, it could be purple. Even Ford have changed the colour of its own products with the same spec over the years. You don't have to buy Ford. You can buy any brand of fluid as long as the bottle states that it meets the WSS-M97B44-D spec. You can mix fluids of different colours as long as it's the correct spec. The colour of the fluid in your car will also darken over time.

Thanks. I know one can also mix a little percentage of a different coolant with no problem.
Since I have to get some, I'd like to get the best matching colour.
Specs of course should be respected.
I just don't like to mix colours 🥳
Mine is between pink and orange.

I can't remember having to top up a cars coolant in over 20 years. I change my car eveey 4 to 5 years. Back in the 70s and 80s, topping up the anti freeze was a fairly regular thing though.

If just a small top up is needed, plain water is fine isn't it unless you need enough to cause serious dilution or live in the north of Sweden or Norway

Not checked with the Puma schedule yet but all previous Ford car recommendations state that you should replace the brake fluid every 2 years. This was probably overkill but I will still have mine replaced every 4 years. Brake fluid is very hygroscopic and after time you can get corrosion problems with the callipers and pistons.

As for topping up, sometimes you might find the fluid level drops to minimum when the pads have all worn down to minimum and in an all disc setup, all the pistons are well extended. Of course if you do top it back up to maximum, you end up having to siphon off some fluid when you replace the pads and the pistons have moved back in.
