Can’t help with the tailgate.
Did you have a long think about that one?.....

As a long thinker you must have to stoop going through doorways. Is that where the name comes from? :D ;)

It’s a long story but nothing to do with my 5’8” height or my stance πŸ˜‰

Haha.

The name was given to me when we had a team meeting a few years back. We were discussing a competition to take us all to a ranch in the US and decided to give each other cowboy names.

We had Curly, TBone, Mitch, Tex and a couple of others. I got Stoop (from StuartπŸ€”).

When the company allowed private plates I couldn’t resist S7OOP for Β£250. It’s stuck with me for about six cars now.

That's a much better story than the one behind my name. :D πŸ‘

So glad I saw your question, and found this forum...
I just got a '71 reg Puma and would prefer to operate the headlamps manually, so I used the round knob near the steering wheel to switch autolamps off. That's OK, but when I next switch the engine on again it always resets to auto. I've done this lots of times.
Did you ever find a way to solve this?
I saw something about it perhaps being a safety feature... but if that's the case, why have a switch?!
Thanks,

I think the switch is to allow you to be able to operate the lights in poor weather where the auto lights wouldn’t come on, fog for example, I wouldn’t want to disable the auto lights as I think it’s a cool safety feature, how many cars do you see without lights on dark winter evenings?, auto lights should have been standard instead of drl,s

It's definitely a safety feature to counteract all the idiots that think that they have night vision or don't know when it's appropriate to turn the lights on.
Not sure why you would want to override it!?
