We've had the car a week and the weather was glorious on collection last Tuesday, the car was looking lovely and shiny when we picked it up.
Now we've since had some heavy rain, it appears the dealer when prepping has used some sort of product on the plastic trim around the doors and windows, leaving horrible white residue and it looks a mess.. fuming. It seems to be rubbing off the textured plastic parts but not the smooth parts.
Anyone have any tips before the dealer gets both barrels in the morning? It's over 100mile round trip to the supplying dealer so can't really just call in either.
Trim Discoloration..
Feel your pain. That don't look too good. Not sure what they used.
People reading this need to take heed of the photos you've kindly uploaded, and consider this, and the multitude of other dealer prep nightmares all over the internet, and don't let the dealership touch it. One is highly unlikely to find a skilled detalier/preper at a dealership. I insisted my last motor wasn't even looked at before I collected it, hence has none of this amateur trash.
Hope you get it sorted.

How do you find it after it's been raining?
Some reviews on Amazon are saying it leaves white streaks, a lot like I've just had to remove?

That AutoGlym trim gel is more a case of something that you might use on older cars to make the trim not look so grey, or if you're selling an older car and trying to jazz it up a bit for sale. If you need to use that on a new car, you've more issues than that stuff will sort. I actually used to use that on some old car which I had. It's alright for what it was, but loses it's impact the more you replenish it as it don't bond as well with repeated applications (which you need to do, given it goes a bit blotchy). Like many off the shelf, Halfords style products, whatever it does its only a temporary solution.
I've heard better things about the Gtecniq C4 trim restorer, but I've never tried it myself.
Again though, the last thing I'd be thinking of using- or expecting to even be considering using, on a new car.
