At the engine level how do these boxes work? Play with fuel pressures or turbo?

I believe that tuning boxes just trick the ECU into increasing the amount of fuel injected (bigger bang=more power), rather than a remap which is more bespoke and dectecable.

Remove the tuning box and the ECU reverts to standard.

Their own explanation:

"Your engine is producing 20-40% less power than it is naturally capable of. Almost all manufacturers develop one engine and limit it electronically to comply with worldwide regulations, fuel grades, climate etc ... Our tuning boxes release this natural power and are designed to be used by the every-day driver, offering incredible gains with zero risk to your vehicle."

I agree, great performance, only thing is position1 sensor is a bit fiddly to get too with big hands, and finding a place in the engine bay with no vibration or heat is awkward. I have built a foam box to keep the module in, seems fine.

I don't get it! If my engine is 25% down on power (155ps to 193ps) from what it can 'naturally' produce, then why stop at that. Give me 25% gains above its natural limit. I want a tuning box for 240ps please.

Ive been looking into a remap for my 155ps st line x, the turbo is larger on the 155 and also some internals are different so maps are not interchangeable. Be wafy if you have been told they will increase power on 125ps to the same max as 155ps.

Further to my previous post I now have a Pumaspeed stage 1 remap, approx 175 bop, they do a stage1R map to about 185bhp but it has to run 99ron petrol, I have a foam filter but otherwise standard components.
Impressed with performance and sounds great from inside the car

That will hurt your warranty and probably your insurance premium.

I have a 125bhp m-hybrid, with the tdi-tuning box.

No noticeable difference in fuel consumption.
I feel more torque from 4th to 6th gear.

Sound still sucks =)

The 155bhp model has a bigger turbo.
