Dead center slow kick forward & back works for me, although its very shy , as it seems to know when other people are watching & refuses to work!!

Since learning how to do it properly (as mentioned above with the slow sweep dead centre) mine has never failed to work.

I only realised there was a button on the outside to open the boot when I was cleaning the shuts and saw it. I thought the only way was either the leg sweep or the fob πŸ˜†

I just do a short side to side arc movement of the foot behind/under the number plate area (therefore covering either side of centre) and it works 99% of the time.

I've even gone up and kicked while pressing the fob in pocket. :D ....The sweet spot on mine seems to be just to the left of the exhaust as previously mentioned.

Wdf76, some pics of the location of the tailgate sensor. Behind the two holes is the sensor , you can see a reflection from the plastic lens cover although not in these pics.. Don't know if there are two sensors or one covering both holes. the centre between the holes is in line with the centre of the number plate. From underneath it was possible to wave a hand across both holes to open the tailgate. Even then it did not work every time and would not close so had to use the button. Maybe the relevant module could be updated to increase the sensitivity which could alleviate the problem and make it 100% effective. There is always hope. Can't seem to add more than one pic so will post again. download/file.php?mode=view&id=1410
