I've been under the car to try and locate the sensor but with no luck. I'm guessing it's between the back edge of the megabox and the inside of the bodywork. I took a pic, attached, but can't determine were it is. I hope somebody younger than me can locate it. Would be much appreciated. download/file.php?mode=view&id=1388

Apparently there are two sensors under the rear bumper. So, need to look for two identical items. :?
I found an article on how it worked on the Ford Escape (Kuga?). I'm guessing that ford use the same system in the Puma....

Been under the car for you Rizmo. 2 pics. 1 from centre looking left. The other centre looking right toward the exhaust. I think there's only one sensor for 'kick to open' and that's left of centre roughly inline with the reverse sensor in the bumper.

Thanks Wdf76, Those connections in the second pic don't look very weatherproof. I'm going to get back under there and orientate myself a bit better than before. Thanks for your help.

So, you can see the length of insulated cable running from left to right along the inside of the bumper that connects the reversing sensors. The only cable running down is shown in pic 2. It would be strangely ironic after a year if trying to kick the tailgate open that I've been aiming in completely the wrong place..... It's more or less inline with the left edge of the number plate. 🤣🤯

Thanks, I'll be trying the new technique tomorrow. Might save me a trip under the car.

Larger sensor needed or perhaps two or even more.

Wdf76, my Puma has the rectangular box so looks like the layout underneath is different to yours. The left side of the number plate does not work for me, more towards the middle. I may get some more pics tomorrow when I visit a family member who can get under the car for me.

I'll wait to see what your pictures look like. Can you actually open your tailgate with your foot?
