I didn’t phrase my question very well I think. Previous issues have made me aware that when the phone connects to any type of WiFi connection it tries to use that for data, rather than cellular. In most cases that’s what you would want of course, but in the case of this adapter I’d want the phone to continue using cellular for data/streaming
Having said all that I have an adapter on the way, and the car is arriving soon too, so I’ll soon see
Thanks
Wireless Apple CarPlay
The phone has to connect to cplay2air adapter via WiFi as I understand it, so can’t turn WiFi off in that case
I’m hoping CarPlay is clever enough to know that if it’s connecting via WiFi to still use cellular for data/streaming
Am just bored waiting for the car to arrive, so am thinking about things I probably don't need to!
Have told the dealer I don't want to collect until the sync dash cam has been fitted (didn't want to have to go back a few days later for fitting), so probably going to be another week before I get my hands on the car
Just seen this thread and hope I'll be able to clarify some info as I've been using Carplay2air adapter for six months. I've now got the second adapter for my Puma. You need wifi and bluetooth On to make a direct connection to the wireless adapter. Once the connection is successfully made then the adapter stays connected to your phone via WIFI. Everything you do on the CarPlay system uses your mobile data. I've been using Google maps and Waze for long journeys without any problems. There is always that initial delay when device is trying to connect with your phone. I'll say approx 7-10 secs.
Carplay2air is quite good with frequent updates to the device as well.
Hope this helps

Has anyone had any success using either Carlinkit 2.0 or CPLAY2air wireless adapter for Apple CarPlay.
I can’t get my Carlinkit 2.0 to work properly, it will play music and make call but when using any voice searches through map apps or reading text messages it disconnects every time.
Is anyone using a wireless adapter without any problems for full use of Apple CarPlay.

My only issue with Cplay2Air apart from the lagging when pressing play or forward on the panel is, every few minutes the song being played cuts off for half a second and it gets annoying after a while. Starting to think i should have got the other brand.
