Just booking my car in for its first service she seen the outstanding recall regarding the OBD cover so that’s sorted then enquired about software updates.... only to be told that it’s the customers responsibility now to download it off Etis put it on a USB stick and plug it into the car... now she did mention driving around while it updates...me thinks she’s confused with sync updates... 🙄🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️I did say are you sure it’s off Ford Etis site “yes” she said... hmmmmmm think she’s definitely wrong... 🥴🤷🏻‍♂️

She got it wrong.....She was referring to the Map and Sync updates. The cars software updates should be done by the dealer. I hate talking to the receptionist at service departments. They spout even more bull than the technicians....
Name and shame the dealer.....

And you wonder why some dealerships get some bad press. :)

It does state on sync updater that should you encounter problems then your dealer will be 'happy to help'

Consider showing her that.

I asked about updates for the traffic sign ect, the service guy printed off the map / sync, “ how to to do “ I don’t think he understood. I think mines so far out of date , I’m expecting the sat nav to read out in Latin, and a little man with a red flag for the traffic sign....

Chocky is right. After a dealer was reluctant to update modules I mentioned the road traffic sign recognition and the fact they could affect adaptive cruise and they agreed to update next week. I'll follow up on this post afterwards. You need to take the high road to get a response sometimes.
