You can disable start/stop with the button by the handbrake. Start/stop is off in sport mode but can be selected if needed. However as the car defaults to normal mode each time you start, I guess you'll have too knock it off manually. This must be to encourage the control of emissions when stationary.

There is a setting in vehicle settings with a tick box called Auto Engine Off. I've never bothered looking into what this is for.
When I picked the car up I turned auto start/stop off for the drive home as I’ve never driven a car with it before (made sure I knew which button it was before I went down there)

Will take it out when roads are quite to get used to it at junctions

Understood. You did right. Have some confidence that it's a brilliant system and works well. You'll not know it's operating soon enough.

I wonder if there's a setting in forscan to default the mode it is in... You'd imagine there might be?

Embrace the new technology tonyt2021, you've paid for it. ;)

Yes, auto stop start is so unobtrusive that it's almost instantly forgotten about. Under the old system the engine would restart when the clutch was depressed, the new system only kicks in when a gear is selected and is much better and seamless and the steering still works now... 8-)
Just go with it and save money and the planet (a bit)..

Just a suggestion but perhaps you could set the start/stop speed threshold to low whilst you're getting to grips with it.

This is in driver settings, and will ensure that your pumas engine will not shut off until the speed is low enough.

I use the high setting and this will shut the engine off at about 15moh when coasting to a stop, depending on the electrical load the car is using.

Good luck with it.

Well I tried it this morning, and hardly noticed it was doing it. Was worried about nothing as usual

For the life of me I couldn't find the start/stop threshold option in settings though
