Brief guide as there seems to be issues getting it to work.
Hands free tailgate opening only came as standard on the ST Line X 1st edition models. It was available as an option on other specs.
Is it fitted? Next to the headlight switch is a button to open the tailgate. Your key will have a tailgate option too. Also on the tailgate on the right hand side when open, is a button to close it.
By default, it’s set to work, but can be turned off via the steering wheel settings options.
You need to have your keys on you, next to the tailgate when trying to open. If someone else tries to open the boot for you and you’re not in close proximity to the car, it won’t open.
With this option, the key also has a motion sensor which deactivates the key after a short time. So in the rare occasion you haven’t moved for a while, move.
