Had this message 3 times this morning. EMERGENCY CALL SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. Service required. Has anyone come across this before. The system triggers after an accident so is relatively important. Maybe a software update corrects it. Can somebody check forscan for me.

General consensus on the net is that a faulty TCU could be the cause if it is constant....Many report it going away on it's own after pressing 'OK', if it continues get it into the dealer.

I had it twice last year. After the second time I went to the dealer. Service manager said that the TCU was borked. In fact he said that they were all borked. He said that if yours hasn't failed yet.... it will do soon. He booked it in for a replacement.... no problems since. They send the old ones back to Ford for reprogramming and reissue as spares.

Thanks for the info, I've been to the dealers this morning. I could see on their system that the issue happened yesterday also. It's a common fault apparently. Mostly Pumas but other Ford's as well. I'll book the car in soon .

Mine was one of those that got replaced and recalled for this, Ford authorised a free courtesy car when mine was replaced as it was in for the whole day, so ask for that as well, the dealers will have done hundreds of them so pretty painless

Happens to me very occasionally and always in areas of very weak or no cellular coverage.

As soon as I drive into a better served area it goes away...

When I got the message this morning it was in a place of good coverage but suppose there can be a blip. When the dealer told me it happened yesterday I was not in the same area and not did I notice it. So to be sure I'll ask them to replace the TCU.

do you loose the connectivity icons at the same time ?

I never noticed. The emergency switch above the windscreen seems to work ok. On engine startup its bright red then dims soon after. Too much to take in just a few seconds for me. I'm old.

After many weeks my Pumas TCU software was updated. Unfortunately this has led to further problems. The ecall red light in the overhead console now remains a dim red at all times. When the ignition is switched on the light should glow bright red for a short time then resume it's dim shade of red. In addition the Ford Pass app will not sync with the cars modem. I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app, removing the car from the app and putting it back on the app again. The wifi signal in the car is good. When trying to pair the app I get the ACTIVATION PENDING notice. On the sync screen the Connectivity settings menu will not display, there is no prompt I've tried a reset with the same results. Also the data and location icons are missing from the top right corner of the sync screen. The attachments are some of the screens I am getting. The car goes back to the dealer in ten days to hopefully fix the TCU issues but I'm not confident with regard to the Ford Pass problems. Any ideas are appreciated.
