I find for any steady speed driving over about 42, 6th is more than adequate (living in the Thames Basin) - I also find the shift lights are about on the money, when driving in a "Traffic Snake" - on the open road, they're far too conservative.
The ST does have oodles of low down torque though, which might be why the ST line doesn't lend itself to being driven in the same way.
