Hi all, I’ve just took delivery of new 22 plate st-line x, there’s no engine cover on the top of the engine, the supplying garage says there isn’t one but all pictures I search shows a small half one which I don’t have! Can you help and advise please?
Either they have forgot to fit it or more likely they have deleted it as part of their penny pinching. It is mainly cosmetic but worth checking with other new owners. Mine was built October an delivered January and has the coverSteveandKate wrote: ↑Fri Mar 25, 2022 6:45 pm Hi all, I’ve just took delivery of new 22 plate st-line x, there’s no engine cover on the top of the engine, the supplying garage says there isn’t one but all pictures I search shows a small half one which I don’t have! I would be astonished if there is no engine cover. I have never in my experience come across a modern Ford without an engine cover?
But hey here is an easy way to check. Pop along along to a Ford dealership (not necessarily yours) and their parts department. Tell em you need a new engine cover (make some excuses if necessary, saying yours cracked) They will ask for your registration and or Vin number and wait for the response.
I bet your bottom dollar they they will find one and quote you a price.
(Be interested to know how you get on).
and Ford penny pinching, surely not. Covers are cosmetic yes, but also have purpose in so much they can protect against cable / hose chaffing.

Thanks guys, I did buy it out of town so I’ll go to my local one on Monday and ask the question! I’ll post what they say and how I sort it
Honestly not convinced. Not only do the covers help to reduce cable chaffing, they act to dampen engine noise. (These covers having damping material on the inside)
If Ford can fit the wrong head gasket in production (as they did with early build Focus RS) then I am dam sure they can miss a cover or two.
That said looking at the picture I see no evidence of any engine bay special cover studs?
So happy to be proved wrong and eat humble pie .
