My first really long drive
A 155 should be more economical than a 125 on long cruise trips. At a constant 70mph the revs must be less on the 155. I could of put that better, sorry.
Puma ST-Line-Vignale 155 manual, magnetic grey, DAP, electric tailgate. New in December 2021.
The small tank doesn't help either tbh.. seem to be constantly filling up. What rpm is the manual version doing in 6th @ 70mph? And is the same gearbox in both 125 & 155 models? In the auto, at 70 the engine is doing around 2200rpm in 7th gear.

155PS manual does about 2600rpm at 70mph in 6th.

I'm interested to know how good a job the automatic box does of selecting the right gear. This is the first DCT I have driven so I have nothing to judge it against, but in my opinion the gear selection is pretty good with minimal labouring of the engine tbf. The power delivery is really smooth too and obviously without the clutch you can keep your foot planted if necessary. I find myself just tickling the throttle when driving around town, not much is needed once on the move and up to speed. In sport mode it holds on to the gears longer, and you always have the option of changing up or down the box with the paddles too, although this is temporary in 'drive' and it will change again to what it thinks is best soon after. I have been driving Ford Power Shifts for decades and I have to say the 7 speed DCT is simply a pleasure to drive. So smooth that I virtually never look at the Rev meter. Sports mode simply provides more power from a higher revving engine. I haven’t got a clue which gear I am in and nor should I. I average about 54 mpg on long journeys and 44 mpg on the trip to the supermarket.

Exactly. However, the issue now is that someone who nearly got 59mpg is going to sent those who get much less than that straight to the dealers and demanding a replacement engine
I've never even considered mpg when buying a new car. Regrettably now, with most other aspects normally associated with driving enjoyment demonised, it seems it's all we have left. Oh, and how big the boot is!
