lol this gets funnier and funnier.

So Rays1 contacts them and (as Ray kindly reported) ' called Michelin direct today.. They confirm that the 'FP' is Rim Protection (Fringe Protection) and does NOT stand for Ford Performance......!'

You contacted them and now apparently FP is Ford Performance lol

And note nothing I've found on the internet tyre buying sites, nor Mich's own site ,comes up with FP meaning Ford Performance. Only one site (mytyres) which has it as fringe protector.
Either someone's missing something or the left hand don't know what the right hand is doing
Beyond satire.

Yep you guys are correct, I did indeed contact Michelin.
But in two different ways..
On Tuesday I called their helpline directly and spoke to a chap who confirmed that the 'FP' impression on tyre sidewall (P sport 4s FP) was describing that the tyre had rim protection.

That very same day I also wrote to Michelin using their customer enquiries form.
I received an answer today.......low and behold the written answer is a complete contradiction to what the guy on the phone advised me.... bonkers.
I QUOTE the email
"225/40 ZR19 (93Y) XL ,Pilot Sport 4S FP.
FP Specific Marking - Specific Marking for Ford Performance Cars"

As Wfd76 got a similar answer, then we have to believe the written reply from Michelin.

The dealer principal at my dealership (on collecting my ST today) agreed, Ford Performance it is.

From a Ford sourcing perspective it would make no sense to have a unique FP marked tyre for the Puma ST and no other performance vehicle in the brand. Not saying it’s impossible but as an ex Ford Purchase Mgr, IMHO very unlikely. A good example was the Mk1 Focus RS, it also had Michelin performance tyres but these were also fitted to the ST Mondeo. But hey I left years ago so what do I know. Perhaps the Ford tyre buyer was given a generous budget :D

Bit late to the party , Just ordered my Mean green ST (due in Jan 23) and have been reading up on here about the Pilot 4s FP's all very interesting and confusing :D Found these at Kwikfit https://www.kwik-fit.com/tyres/search/d ... s/T1029154 . In the attributes section on the Ford bit it says "FP homologated for fitment to certain Fords " I Take it these are the correct one's for the ST ?
Cheers
