Just reading Ford has increased the base price of both Fiesta and Puma. It suggests the price increase is due to Brexit.. The list price for Puma ST (without any equipment extras) is now I believe to be Β£30,415.
That an almost 2k increase in just under three months.

Holy moly😳

https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/indu ... t%E2%80%9D

Raises the questions of which components and why they cannot be manufactured in Europe.

You'll have to really, really want an ST now. Look elsewhere and you'll find the same performance for less money.

The comments section is still rife with brexiteer/remainer wars 🀯🀯

The Brexit bandwagon, absolutely ridiculous and totally unjustified. I don't get it, lockdown and all, all car sales will suffer and Ford deserve it with this move. On the bright side, anyone selling a Puma ST-line X First Edition like mine might do very well.

There is no way the Puma is a 30 grand car in any of it's guises even though you won't actually pay that much.

That is madness. My car is now over 34k new without any discounts. I guess I got it at the right time, got well over 4 grand, going on 5k off at that price. Mental.

ST-Line X First editions are selling second hand for more than I paid new.
Bodes well for change over time, although, unless Ford come up with a decent Plug in Hybrid, I'll probably change manufacturer.

Think in a few years time, I'll be seriously looking at a Toyota C-HR Hybrid.....

All down to where the parts are from. The ST engines are from America rather than Europe like the standard engines. Therefore subject to tariffs.
Unfortunately for Ford...

No sympathy with Ford regarding import tariffs, should build an engine factory in the UK. It's the ideal time and no tariffs exporting to the EU and transport costs greatly reduced. What are they waiting for. Nissan expanding big time in Sunderland, The new model Quashqai to be built there this year. Nissan have closed their Barcelona operation and transferred it to the UK.
