Hi all,
Does anyone have an ST with a knock from the from the front end?
Mine knocks when going forward or backwards and turning the steering (not lock to lock) just general manoeuvring.

I asked at my local dealership if they've had any issues, they'd not.

I've not jacked it up yet as it's too cold!
Sounds similar to a top mount or strut, can be felt through the floor and steering wheel.

Any ideas?

What's the mileage? Difficult to make long distance diagnosis but Ford coil springs are not unknown to snap at low mileage.

Thanks for reply.

Cars done 6k miles, from experience broken springs give a “twang” kinda sound, this is definitely more a heavy thud/knock.

I did search for “knock” but nothing came up.
Thanks for link above, sounds similar to mine.
I vaguely remember 95MY Fiesta having a a TSB for a knock, that was a subframe bolt either not torqued or too long.

I’ll book it in and report back.

Hi,
Did you get any results? I've got a very similar sound (4.5K miles).

Hi,
Yup it was resolved by the dealer retorquing the steering rack bolts, also renewing the steering rack pinch bolt (it was bent!)

It’s a shame they were unable to resolve all the creaks and rattles from various interior trims

Hi Welcome to the forum..
Get it into the dealer, probably needs the bolts torquing up as others have had done. should definitely be under warranty.

I found a few loose/not properly tightened bolts under the bonnet, on engine and around bulkheads, including hoses/pipes. Poor quality control from factory and none existent pdi.
