Please see the attached warning message (auto box). This started appearing today, every time I approached a junction. As the car drew to a halt, the message would pop up. As soon as I started off again, it would disappear. Otherwise, the car appeared to be acting normally.

I can't believe it is an actual fault, as it first appeared some three hundred yards from home from a cold start and an ambient temperature of about 4C, hardly enough time for anything to overheat. So I am guessing it is a sensor?

Any ideas please? Anyone know what the dealer situation is in the lockdown?

Thanks.

Think you need a diagnostic on that soon. If something is not being lubricated or cooled it's not gonna do it any good.

Dealers are still open for garage and maintenance services where I live.

You also have Ford assist to use.

Top box in attachment. Reads clutches are too hot. If it were mine I'd be ringing the dealer for advice.

Thanks Wdf. I am just surprised that it reported the fault less than a minute into the journey from a stone cold start. I wouldn't have thought anything would have warmed up, let alone overheated, so quickly. I am also surprised it went out by itself as soon as I moved off again, so it only stayed on for a second or two just as I pulled to a stop. I have contacted the dealer. I'll report back when I know more.

Dry clutch set ups such as yours are air cooled, that's about the extent of my knowledge.

You could ask other dct owners if they have received this fault? You could do with knowing that you are not doing any damage to the clutch.

Personally I would get the dealer on the case and see if it's safe to drive.

I hope your curiosity hasn't killed the cat.

The lead technician at the dealer contacted me this afternoon. He said he has never seen this warning before. He was keen for me to take the car there, and leave it, but as the dealership is about 20 miles away and I am not keen to get a bus, I would require a courtesy car and none were available (they have a showroom full of them  ). Given how the message vanished as soon as I released the brake pedal, he wondered if there was a switch issue.

Anyroad, we agreed to leave it so that I would contact him after two weeks, or if the message re-appeared, whichever is the sooner. Again, taking the car out earlier, there was no issue.

This reared its ugly head again. It just flashed in and off a few times, so it is almost certainly a sensor. Switching off and restarting seems to kill it. But I have too few instances to know that for sure.
