Sync software update !!!
I'll get the map download tonight but I think this has pushed me over the edge to seriously look at a carplay wireless option. It would pay for itself in a couple of years.

Finally got my maps updated.
Ford rang me back yesterday to tell me the engineers were still working on it. Er.... it's already fixed.
The maps installed on the drive to and from work and it's all up to date now.
I'll wait for Ottocast to have a sale and pick one of those up I think. I used wired CarPlay for a trip to Derby at the weekend and it worked perfectly so I suspect that'll be my nav/media choice when the price is right.

Updates seem to be a lottery! Just updated both sync and maps using ex-fat usb method. No problems with files or down/up loading, though I did wait a few days to install maps as I needed to have a journey of about 35 mins. Log files excepted by Ford straight away. Commiserations to everyone who is having problems

Just for future info, you don't need long journeys to install the update. Having had sync since version 2 I know updates have never been reliable, typical Ford tbh. But for the first time in about 6 years our ST updated recently from the latest download via usb without any issues at all. It even gave me the log file to upload and that has never happened before
It tells me there is an update to my Sync 3 system (not that I can log in), from which I can then check for map updates, but when I click to download the update (so I can do it via USB) I just get an error message:

I think you need to create an account and log in. If you have one and cannot log in, call Ford Support and ask them to reset your account
