Do maps actually need updating? My Audi A1 runs 2018 maps on the sat nav and still gets me from A to Z. To get it updated requires a visit to the dealer who then takes £400 off you. Maps are on a SD card which is coded to the car's VIN. I'll stick with 2018.
why not use your phone satnav? It'll be up to date and far better than the Audi sat nav.Curryhouse wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 1:57 pm Do maps actually need updating? My point was that 2018 maps are just as good as 2021 maps. The roads will not be that different.Sparks wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 5:42 pmwhy not use your phone satnav? That's OK until they're not...Some parts around here are almost unrecognisable from 3 years ago, there has been so much development.Curryhouse wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 7:44 pmMy point was that 2018 maps are just as good as 2021 maps. I only use SatNav on arrival at a city or town for the last bit of the drive. Getting between cities is the easy bit....

Oh yes they will I am sorry to say. Massive UK house building development nation wide in recent times and it didn't even stop for the Pandemic. Perhaps not so inner city, but generally it is never ending with new roads and route changes as a consequence.Curryhouse wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 7:44 pmMy point was that 2018 maps are just as good as 2021 maps. I've witnesses (it brings a tear to my eye) so much country side distruction for new houses and roads in my area (North West). I once worked on the site (building military aircraft) where they have recently been producing and filming 'Top Gear' But no longer the aerodrome now recently sold to developers with thousands of new houses and new roads planned. Awful.
Updated to Sync 3.4.21194 via USB no issues, to then be offered an 8.6GB Map_8630403397_Update.zip even though I am on the latest F10 maps.
I bet this will end up resulting in MEM_ERR01

I’ve also just updated to 3.4.21194 via usb with no problems and been offered an 8.6 gb map update. I have just checked the map update against the previous 8.6gb update that wouldn’t install and it appears to be different. Will try it when I get a chance.

Got to say I'm a recent convert to Android Auto, on a recent trip across the north Yorkshire Moors I got a mobile speed camera warning (hasten to add I wasn't speeding at the time) lo and behold there it was hiding round the next bend, pretty accurate too, quite impressive
