According to the messages on car display it has updated the map but didn't generate the file for uploading confirming update. I even ran the Interrogator a couple of times but still didn't get the conformation file.

After my Map update I connected via WiFi and scanned for updates before taking the USB inside. Everything is showing as completed before I uploaded the log file. I uploaded it in any case.

Hopefully should carry on after I finish work and drive home.

Glad you managed to get the update done....
I noticed yesterday that the Sync update and my Ford account had both been updated. The system seems to be improving slightly.

I have various module updates available but my local dealer says the car is fine and there are no faults. Maybe because the diagnostic check comes up with no fault codes they say all is ok. Plainly this is not the case and is very frustrating. Are they confusing fault codes with software updates, who knows but I will not be returning to them in the future. I could purchase the ODB cable for £60 and I have a laptop and memory sticks for back up and consider myself computer literate but I lack the confidence to take these updates on. I know some members are managing to sort themselves out with these updates but don't know of anybody in the North East. I realise it's a big ask but my lack of confidence in the local Ford dealership leads me to try elsewhere. Any advice would be appreciated as always and I also realise the current lockdown situation complicates things.

I don't understand why faults are required for module updates. Admin Rob looked at the etis info for my Puma and showed me what modules had updates available. When my car went in I reeled off the list to the service manager. They updated all of them them no questions asked.

I'm absolutely no IT expert and wouldn't consider connecting anything to anything, as I'm sure I'd format my car.

The sync update site states that your dealer will be 'happy to help'. So, ask them flat out why they won't update the software on your car's modules.

For Dealers I believe it is simply down to knowledge and experience. My local Dealer (Lookers) say they cannot perform the software updates due to limited WiFi (an excuse) but the branch in a major town can do it. They booked me in but in the end due to the distance and time of day I cancelled. After all there are no problems with the car and it is not a recall issue. Looking at FordEtis the only update available for my car is TCU.
