New puma died

Post by Doodle » Thu Aug 20, 2020 6:54 pm

Under 30 days old and 120miles and our new Puma went into battery save mode on the side of the motorway.

Asked for a charge system service etc now no electrics.

Recovery man cannot even get into the engine bay..

It's been at the dealers since last week. They managed to get it going after a day. They've apparently reload/flashed the pcm. Apparently they say the hybrid battery wasn't "talking" to car

Doesn't help ford have just suspended new puma sales and demos as well- of which the dealer doesn't know why!

Although they cannot tell why it did it,they claim it's fixed..

As far as my partner and am I are concerned it's a new car as it's under 30days old. They seem to be playing the game

It's been registered with the complaints department - who I must admit have been very good

Oh and thanks for the add to the forum. Not really the first place I wanted to be mind you.

Welcome along. Wish it was under better circumstances.

I'm 3000miles and 6 months into ownership. Touch wood and whistle it's been A ok. Ish😄

I bet the staff at Dunton are sweating tonight. Fords' move towards electrificatiion is on the ropes.

Kuga, suspended (may catch fire). Puma, suspended.something's not right. If you've put a deposit on a Mustang Mach-E you might be looking elsewhere.

Thanks. Yeah I wish it was. I personally wouldn't buy a hybrid, well not without something else on the drive, but not exactly what I wanted to happen to my partner.

I don't care if they say they've fixed it but I want to see a comprehensive fault sheet and it explains what they've done and how it affects me later if the same problem happens again.

Fingers crossed

I hope I don't regret saying this, but that's why I went for the all petrol Ecoboost Puma. I just wasn't prepared to be the guineapig.

Unfortunately they didn't say there was one at the time.

I assume that's the titanium version?

Yes the Titanium.....when i first looked in January the sales guy said no there wasn't an all petrol version even though i was sure I had read that there was. That put me off and I looked into other SUVs but they were all way too big and we already had a bigish car sitting on the drive, (I was driving a Mini at the time).Covid intervened and I was determined after 15 years I needed a change from Minis, so did a lot of research and found that there was indeed an all petrol Puma and that did it for me.Tried it the first Tuesday the dealers were allowed to open and chose one from Ford stock and was driving it 3 weeks later.I love it.

We had a C-Max some years ago when we needed to get our girls up and down to uni, and it was really reliable (other than the upholstery but that's a different story!) Ford haven't got where they are today by selling rubbish cars so hopefully this is a glitch they will get over. What I don't get is this was last year's Car of the Year.....so some of them must have been doing the rounds for a while now with no problems. Also people who are quite happy with their cars don't tend to post that on the forum and Facebook pages, it's only when things go wrong!

Absolutely.. im sure it will be resolved as soon as. Just odd that a halt notice has also just been issued yet the dealers claim to not know the reason. Although I don't really believe them..

Time will tell, but that doesn't help you much!
