I am thinking of buying a new Puma but the issues regarding the 12 v battery have really worried me.The car will not be used for about 8 weeks twice a year ,Would the car go into deep sleep mode and maintain enough battery power to start up when I get back home ?
The mild hybrid set up seems to be the problem ?

Just leave it connected to a smart charger whilst you are away. Something like the below. If you were concerned about it being on all the time if it was connected to a smart plug you could turn it off and on remotely. I can turn my house lamps on and off from 100's of miles away.

The hybrid battery will start to charge as soon as you drive the car again.

How about disconnecting the 12 volt battery for the 8 week period?

We went away for 7 weeks last Feb to April and the car went into deep sleep after 10 days. She started first time when we got back.

We’ve also done a couple of five weeks away with the same result.

I get the concern about the mild hybrid system—I've had a similar issue with a car I didn't use for a few weeks. From my experience, mild hybrids can struggle a bit with battery drain if left sitting too long. My advice would be to either disconnect the battery or use a trickle charger, especially if you’re leaving it for 8 weeks. Some cars do go into deep sleep mode, but I’ve found it’s not always enough to keep the battery from draining completely. It's worth checking with the manufacturer or a dealer to see if they have any specific recommendations for long periods of inactivity.

The BSM, battery sensor module. You can do it yourself, i think it was something like "press start for power on, not start, flash main beam 3 times, then press brake 5 times, see battery symbol flash a few times after it before it disappears."
Someone correct me if i remembered wrong.

The PCM will re-learn engine settings during a 10 min drive.

The way I reset mine after fully charging the battery was:

"Turn on ignition but don’t start the car. Make sure headlights are on then Flash headlights 5 times, then push brake 3 times. Keep an eye on the red battery light in dash, and it should flash. Once it has flashed cycle the ignition and it should be reset."

Worked for me first time and not had the deep sleep warning since.
