After a few weeks of using it I am very happy with the Garmin Mini. Almost as discrete as the Ford one, good quality image and the lack of GPS doesn't bother me. I fitted it with the Garmin Parking Mode kit, which is damn expensive for what it is, but seems good at turning off to protect the battery and easy enough to fit. I plumbed it into fuses 2 and 15 for switched and permanent 12V supplies respectively. Now I just need to fix the wire into the roof liner properly (huge gap) and where it runs round the block behind the rear view mirror.

The biggest downside is that the park mode doesn't stay on very long after stopping - ok for shorter trips to the shops, but won't do a whole day (or probably even half a day) on the car park at work.

To get the cable to stay hidden in the roof lining you could try using cable ties. Put the tie on the cable, pull tight, snip off the long length and that should work . May need to try various tie sizes depending on the gap. It's worked for me in other cars.

Just thought I'd throw my install into the ring. Nothing snapped off during the install either :)

Nicely fed into the headlining down and behind the passenger pillar / airbag into the fuse box.

Been looking at several dash cams, returned two as the park modes only recorded once there was an impact, not the impact itself. I've just ordered the Garmin mini as this has a 15 seconds before/after impact recording. You say park mode doesn't stay on long after stopping, would it last overnight? The main reason for me buying is idiot neighbour reversing into my vehicle and denying all knowledge. If park mode doesn't work I'll have to find another option?

If it's just to capture your idiot neighbour(s) what about a home CCTV solution.

24/7 recording then ;)

Hi, which make and model dashcam did you install? And is it a standard Nextbase connection (Mini usb). It just looks so much neater than my 522GW.

I fitted this model https://www.70mai.com/en/dash-cam-pro/ with GPS module.

The cable is a Micro USB
