Normally new tyres should last between 30/50 thousand miles before renewal depending on driving style.

Thanks to Pawprint66 and Sparks for posting figures of their tyre wear so far.

With these figures, the Continentals wear rate does seem quite acceptable and a bit more reassuring so will have to see how much I can actually get out of mine.

Contacted Goodyear about this and received this reply

The starting depth of tread on the center groove of the Ford OE supplied 215/55R17 98W Efficientgrip Performance 2 XL is 6.2mm

So they are providing cheapskate tyres

I know they have more tread but my van still has over 4 mm on tyres that are 76000 miles old.
My car has 5 mm left on 4500 mile old tyres

Surely that doesn’t save them that much money or make us want to buy Goodyear tyres

I asked Ford CRC for an explanation on tyre tread depth back in February. Still awaiting an answer.

Looks like wgtwiddle has a Titanium with Goodyears on. Saw a new one today with Continentals, so, looks like they're doing a mixture.
