Fuel additive eg Redex

IMO people are being a bit too wary of E10 fuel. All modern cars are running fine on it, I'm willing to bet the vast majority of drivers don't even know they are using anything different. It's not 'new', it has been used in the US and Europe for a few years now.
Even F1 cars are moving to E10 fuel next season.
I found that the MPG is probably a little less with E10, but not enough to make any real difference. I've gone back to it occasionally from 99RON it now depends on if an E10 pump is available or not rather than any other reason.
Each to their own, if adding a drop of Redex makes anyone feel better, it can't do any harm...

As a general stance Ford do not recommend additives because someone somewhere will use something that could be harmful. So it's just as easy for them to say no to all.
From my understanding given modern engineering, modern materials and highly accurate machining processes. Additives are or should be unnecessary. In all honesty and my opinion you would be better off chucking in a tank of Shell V power every so often, in order to give yourself all the necessary cleaning agents that you might need.

Just bringing this back up.

I see Redex now states on the bottle “suitable for hybrid cars”.

I use it in my wife’s KA but am tempted to put half a bottle in my Puma.

£2 a bottle at Tesco. So £1 a tank. About a third of the extra cost off buying 42ltrs of Shell or BP.

Cheers. I’ll take another look but I’m sure it said use half a bottle per tank. We have 42ltrs so maybe less?

You're correct I have the 500 ml bottle which equates to 4 shots/tanks sometimes Tesco do the £2 offer on these too, better deal methinks
