Re: Tyres
The thing to note about winter tyres is that although the tread pattern is the main factor in giving them superior grip in the snow, the rubber compound is optimised for low temperatures so even if there is no snow about, the winter compound will out perform the summer compound below 7 degrees.

Re: Sync software update !!!
I'm on F10, but everytime I check for updates the screen message tells me I'm up to date. Fortunately I have an AA Road Atlas more up to date than my sat nav ! I'm assuming that it's your car screen that's telling you that you are up to date. If you go to the Ford website and input your VIN then it...

Re: 1.0 ecoboost timing chain or belt check
Is the oil pump driven of the timing chain ? Or is it wet belt driven. I know people may be pi##ed of me asking but heard different accounts keep popping up ? Thanks for you patience AFAIK the oil pump drive is still wet belt. It will be of an improved design of belt and tensioner compared to earli...

Re: Engine fault
So is the Puma turbo mounted at the front or rear. Rear. Not a worry then, according to an earlier post.... :? Not necessarily. This only means that the Puma has a cam chain and not belt.... something we all knew anyway. The article I quoted above is saying that its the oil pump wet belt and tensio...

Re: Engine fault
The 1.0 and 1.5 Puma engines both have a belt driven oil pump and most likely the old type of tensioner and belt material. So failures are likely. Ford say the failure occurs at around 60k which on the belt/belt 1.0 is nonsense, many have failed well below that. You can see if your cam is belt or c...

Re: Engine fault
Apparently ford are doing something about eco sport 1.0 engines from 2016-2022, regarding the wet belt and oil starvation issue. New belt is involved and something else. I've read about that (link below). The slightly worrying thing is that us Puma owners have been a bit smug in the knowledge that ...

Re: Emergency call malfunction
Quite a few here have had the problem and had it fixed. It's the TCU module which handles comms to and from the car. Ford know all about it and have replaced thousands of them under warranty. They take your unit and give you back another that has been reprogrammed at the factory.

Re: Tyres
EfficientGrip is a Goodyear tyre, not Bridgestone. If the car came with W rated tyres then it may effect any insurance claim you make if you have downgraded to a V rating.
