Re: Understanding models - power and MHEV

The MHEV has about 20lbft more torque than the non-MHEV at the low end, its used to remove turbo lag. You can really feel it kick in. If you race around in a low gear you likely wont feel it because it will be active far less, but it will have a noticeable effect if you drive it for economy. In 'spo...

Re: Electric cars by 2030 delayed!!

I know people with EVs that have no issues. They have been reliable (mainly because they aren't Teslas), and charging isn't a problem for them. Servicing has been no issue either. Evs arent that different to any other car outside of the power train, mechanics these days are already dealing with comp...

Re: Electric cars by 2030 delayed!!

This is Brexit lovers thinking the UK is the centre of the universe. The rest of the world will move on and no one will care if the tiny UK still allows ICE cars, because the manufacturers wont be developing them anyway. Best case is the manufacturers ignore it and continue with their EV future, at ...

Re: First Car, Worst Car, Best Car.

First: Ford Fiesta mk1 1.1L. Such a simple little thing, dirt cheap to run, exhausts were £20 to replace. Those days are gone.. Yes but when was the last time you needed to replace an exhaust? It's got to be 20 years since I've had to buy a replacement exhaust for a car. Well someone at work needed...

Re: First Car, Worst Car, Best Car.

First: Ford Fiesta mk1 1.1L. Such a simple little thing, dirt cheap to run, exhausts were £20 to replace. Those days are gone.. Worst.. Tough. Probably a mk3 Escort 1.3. They are just crap cars. Even for the time they were too small, cheaply made, rusty and unrefined. I did have a few other cars whi...

Re: Capri or no Capri That Is The Question

Not sure about the names. I dont have a romantic view of these cars, they were horrendous rust buckets quite frankly, and not sure anyone under 45 would care much. Someone at my work has a brown Capri Laser 2.0. I dont really get the appeal, and Im old enough to have had such cars ( I had a mk2 Esco...

Re: When a Pilot 4S is not the same as Pilot 4S FP

An LSD can actually make torque steer worse, but Fords have good front suspension design so should be somewhat immune to that, and these days FWD cars (post about 2010 depending on the brand) are so well designed that being traction limited in corners is a much more rare event until you get near 300...

Re: When a Pilot 4S is not the same as Pilot 4S FP

Does it really matter. We aren't on race tracks after all. I don't drive slow and like to give it a bit when conditions allow. All this chat about LSD and make sure you have the right pilot sport 4s tyres is bollocks to be quite honest. Cant say I agree with that. My last car, which admittedly was ...

Re: CD player and engine cover

Vinyl has a warm sound because of its limitations, but there is no reason a CD or digital file cant sound like that, its all in the Mastering. As I said if you want that sound record a record, it will sound the same. The way DACs work is that the digital file will be identical to the analogue input,...

Re: CD player and engine cover

CDs have their place. I didnt know such a device existed honestly, so could be useful on occasion. FLAC files are functionally identical quality wise to CD and the system should play them. Vinyl in cars was a thing in the US, but their cars were so soft it was ridiculous, not sure it could ever be a...
